Backing Fabric for Flower Garden Quilt | Liberty Fabrics Tana Lawn®

You can choose any Liberty Tana Lawn® fabric that is in stock on our website!
Please write the full name and colour code letter of your chosen fabric in the “order notes” section at checkout. Otherwise, we will send you Eloise C (pictured first) or Sambourne H (pictured second).

You will receive one piece sized 82 × 54″ (208 × 137cm) and one piece sized 82 × 27″ (208 × 67cm). The fabric provided is enough to complete the backing without pattern matching.

This backing fabric will give you an extra 2″ at the top and bottom of your quilt top, and 5″ either side.
However, if you wish to longarm your quilt, this backing piece will not be sufficient. Instead, we recommend ordering either:
– 4.5m of Tana Lawn®, which can then be cut into two 2.25m lengths and joined with a central seam, or
– 2m of extra-wide Lasenby quilting cotton. Standard width Lasenby will not suffice.
For longarm quilting, the recommended clearance for backing fabric is typically 8-10 inches larger in both width and length than your quilt top. This allows for an excess of 4 to 5 inches on all four sides of the quilt.
