Sew each exquisite block to build your own quilt using Liberty Tana Lawn fabrics.

In two shipments *see details below* you will receive a total of 12 beautiful boxes containing instructions, Liberty Tana Lawn® fabrics and pre-cut papers to make your English Paper Pieced (EPP) blocks, building into your own gorgeous Liberty quilt. Each block is then EPP together to make the finished quilt top at the end of the project.

Inspired by a beautiful ‘granny’s flowers’ heritage quilt seen at a local museum, the Betsy’s Bouquet quilt combines the tradition of English Paper Piecing (EPP) and the ‘granny flowers’ design with stunning contemporary Liberty Tana Lawn® and Tilda Tea Towel fabrics.  A predominantly hand sewn project, your version of this exquisite quilt will be your own heirloom quilt for many years to come. 

Alice says “I love the geometry in quilts and the interesting way that hexagons tesselate together to form such a striking overall effect.  Betsy is one of my absolute favourite Liberty designs and so it was a natural choice as the fabric to tie the hexagon flowers together in this granny flowers quilt.  I have the granny flowers quilt that my grandmother made many years ago which was all hand sewn using fabrics from her old dresses and my grandfather’s shirts from the 1950s, 60s and 70s. She added an amazing, crocheted border as well as crochet between the ‘flowers’ so this design means so much to me.”

Mixing Liberty fabrics with the Tilda gives the finished quilt such interest.  We went searching for fabrics that would blend with Liberty, and these Tilda fabrics, with a tea towel stripe work perfectly.  The inspiration for the stripe comes from the history of how quilts were made in the past – every scrap of fabric in the home was used, and striped pieces were often made from worn-out men’s shirts.  With 45 blocks in total, the strong grounding colour of Betsy D for the block borders helps create a 1930’s vibe. The finished quilt is a perfect combination of contrasts and harmonies, to create a gorgeous quilt with vintage appeal which will look well in any home.

Betsy’s Bouquet is a timeless quilt which uses Liberty classics, seasonal designs and plain white Tana Lawn.  In the whole quilt you will receive approximately 122 different prints.  The edges of this quilt have an interesting shape which flow with the hexagons and add to the interest of the quilt.

The finished quilt size of 76.5” x 86” (194cm x 218cm) is large enough for a double or king-size bed.
