From the mythic Hanging Gardens of Babylon to Shakespeare’s romantic floral settings, this chapter explores the narratives that are woven in and around cultivated botanical spaces. The whimsical magic of a secret garden, and healing spaces teeming with restorative plants emphasise the intricate relationship between nature and wellbeing. The Story Garden also takes inspiration from historic pleasure grounds and wartime victory gardens, highlighting humanity’s necessity for community and finding solace through nature.
