Taking inspiration from Darwin’s travels around the world and of the intricate illustrations he made on his trip, this design pays homage to the early use of colour pigments to describe the treasures of the natural world. In a historical nod to Darwin’s time, it has been only partially coloured – during this era paints were very expensive, and many paintings were left unfinished.
For Spring/Summer 2024, The Liberty Kaleidoscope takes us on the most vivid journey of all – through the rainbow, into a prismatic universe of colour. Practical and emotive, subjective yet universal, the artistic application of colour has fascinated humanity for tens of thousands of years. In this collection, the Liberty Fabrics designers explore the cultural, natural and historical components of different colour categories.
