Inspired by Doris Zinkeisen’s eponymous self-portrait, which depicts the sitter elegantly facing the viewer in a striking shawl, this floral conversational pattern is adorned with brightly coloured tropical birds and decorative chrysanthemums. Meticulously hand-painted in the Liberty design studio using gouache, the print celebrates the shawl’s traditional Asian style motifs.

Celebrating the eclectic, the extravagant, and the extroverted, this chapter is inspired by those who are free to express themselves. Following the limelight on centuries of artistic and cultural icons, from Cleopatra and Beaux Brummell to Josephine Baker and John Lennon, Liberty praises these societal personalities for their unconventional exuberance and playful eccentricity towards style.
