PATTERN: Crowning Glory Quilt Pattern

This quilt was designed to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 – 70 amazing long years on the throne. Now that her reign has sadly come to an end, we hope that you may take comfort in handmaking this quilt in order to commemorate her. If you liked, you could even embroider or appliqué her name onto it as an extra special touch.

Whether used as a backdrop to a royal celebration, picnic blanket, sofa or bed covering, this quilt will look great anywhere or any way you wish to display it. It could also be a make-shift cape for anybody who likes playing make believe, suitable for children up to the age of 110!
The quilt is constructed using traditional and simple patchwork techniques. Strip piecing and half square triangles (HSTs) are simple to make and the techniques for both are easy to master.

The quilt shown above uses a mixture of Liberty Tana Lawn® prints and plains as well as a Tilda Tea Towel fabric to create a suitably British red, white and blue coloured quilt. Any Liberty Tana Lawn® or quilting cotton you choose will be suitable for this quilt.

YOU WILL NEED
Iron, pins, thread, sewing machine, grid ruler, set square (one with a 45º line is best), cutting mat and rotary cutter
Optional: free motion quilting foot, heat erasable pen.

Fabrics F, G and H (for crowns): 12½” x 27” (31.7cm x 68.5cm) each
