The construction of this cushion combines a mixture of techniques – raw edge appliqué and embroidery. Raw edge appliqué is a bit like collaging with fabric and whilst easy to do, it does require some concentration and a slower speed setting on your machine, if possible. You can make the stitching as intricate, or as simple as you like, defining the shapes for extra texture and visual drama
if desired. Embroidery is a timeless method of embellishing by hand which encourages mindfulness through slow stitching. The embroidery stitches used are basic satin and running stitches which are easily mastered. These details increase the handmade look of the cushion as well as adding fun texture.
IN THIS KIT
