Star of Wonder Table Runner Pattern

Featuring patchwork staple diamond in a square blocks, as well as one of Alice’s favourite blocks, the Ohio Star, this table runner is sure to add that extra layer of festive fun to your seasonal table settings. Family, friends, neighbours, and unexpected guests alike will appreciate the hand-made touch and admire your patchwork skills!

We have used six red and six green different Liberty Tana Lawn® fat quarters for the red and green areas, and Liberty Quilting Cotton Wiltshire Shadow Gold Metallic B for the border and binding fabric which adds fun sparkle. For the background fabric you could use 54” (137cm) wide Liberty Tana Lawn® or any 44” (112cm) wide fabric you wish. We have used a plain ivory quilting cotton for our background fabric, but a white on white Tana Lawn® would look amazing as well!

We do not usually find it necessary to pre-wash Liberty Tana Lawn®, but as this table runner likely has many cycles in the washing machine in its future, it is a good idea to pre-wash all of the fabrics you will be using, whether Tana Lawn®, Liberty or anything else.
Care instructions: Only wash Liberty Tana Lawn® at maximum 30ºC and line dry in the shade.

You will need:
Iron, pins, thread, sewing machine, grid ruler, set square, erasable fabric pen, cutting mat and rotary cutter
Optional: free motion quilting foot.
Red fabric: six different minimum 9×22” (22.9×55.9cm) size, OR six different Fat Quarters
Green fabric: six different minimum 9×22” (22.9×55.9cm) size, OR six different Fat Quarters
Border & Binding fabric: 20×44” or ×54” (50.8×112cm or ×137cm)
Background fabric: 27”×44” or ×54” (68.6×112cm or ×137cm)
Backing fabric: 18×71” (45.7×180.3cm) (If using a 44” (112cm) wide fabric, start with a yard (91.4cm) length, then cut it down into two 18” (45.7cm) × width-of-fabric pieces and sew these together short end to short end to make a piece of fabric the correct size.)
Wadding: 18×71” (45.7×180.3cm)
