Anna has made this Liberty fabric lampshade and matching cushions using Star Burst C from the Atlas of Dreams SS21 collection. This cushion sewing and lampshade kit project is a lovely way to upcycle old lamps into beautiful soft furnishings.

I asked Anna about these lovely makes.
“I’m really partial to a lovely lampshade but think they are so expensive so I’ve taken to making my own. I bought an oval lampshade making kit from a company called Needcraft with a bespoke matt gold inside finish. I was given an old lamp by a friend and loved putting some thought into how I could give it a new life.”

“I decided to make some cushions to match. I made one with piping and two plain cushions. They are for my new garden room and so the fabric theme works perfectly. Star Burst C is a truly magnificent burst of botanical beauty. This oriental floral print was originally created in 1989 and features large-scale exotic iris petals, intricate ornamental leaves and a densely abstract background pattern.”

“I’m so happy with these projects. There was something about Star Burst that make me think soft furnishings and I love the end result. They were really simple and quick to make.”

“More than anything, I love the fact that I have used an old tired lamp and turned it into something lovely and contemporary.”

Thank you Anna for sharing your lovely project with me.
