Betsy Meadow Oilcloth IKEA inspired bag

Using our gorgeous Betsy Meadow B Oilcloth, Kate has created a stunning tote that quite honestly makes you smile the moment you lay eyes on it. A beautiful Liberty-inspired floral design, Betsy Meadow B is fresh, vibrant and full of character, the kind of print that’s just too pretty to hide away. A few words from Kate:

I’m no expert when it comes to sewing, but this bag really was so much simpler than I expected! When I spotted the Betsy Meadow B oilcloth I just knew I had to make something with it, and the IKEA bag was the perfect starting point.

My method was really straightforward! I simply cut up an old IKEA bag and used it as my template. I laid the pieces out flat onto the oilcloth, cut around them and sewed it all back together. That really was the bones of it! It meant I didn’t have to worry about measurements or working out dimensions, the bag did all of that for me.

The oilcloth was lovely to work with and the Betsy Meadow B print is just gorgeous in real life, so much prettier than I’d even imagined. I kept everything really simple, just focused on getting my seams straight and letting that beautiful print speak for itself.

A Note on the Lining 🌸

You may have noticed the beautiful lining Kate used inside her bag, sadly this particular print has now sold out and won’t be coming back. However, the good news is that we have some equally gorgeous prints that would work just as beautifully!
