Ruth from our production studio made this lovely reversible tote bag using Tilda Hometown quilting cotton in Elanora Teal and Eden Blue. With box corners, interfaced straps and topstitched finish, it’s a simple sewing project you can customise to any size you need.

“I love the Tilda Elanora Teal fabric and thought that the Eden Blue would complement it nicely. I Googled the instructions for a lined tote bag and found a tutorial by SkipToMyLou.”

“To stop the straps from wrinkling too much when wearing the bag, I used interfacing and I also did box corners on the bottom of the bag. These were easy to do, I just had to make sure I lined up all of the seams carefully to give a neat finish afterward. I also topstitched around the top of the bag to make sure each fabric stayed on its own side as I didn’t want either peeking out the top when the alternate fabric was on the outside!”

“This was a very simple project and I am really pleased with the result. It looks very smart and I can’t wait to start using it! I liked making my own bag as I could make it the size that I wanted (to fit my choir words folder in). The Tilda fabric looks and feels so lovely and was very nice to work with. I’m trying to think of something else I really need so that I can use it again for something!”
