Jolly Robin FPP Cushion or Wall Hanging Kit
£42.95
Wings extended, Mr Jolly Robin flies gracefully through the air, a festive bauble clutched in his beak by a string. Construct this jolly robin using Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP) and turn into a mini quilt or cushion. FPP is an easy machine sewing method best used for intricate designs which can be difficult to achieve with any other method. If you can sew following a line, you can most definitely FPP! You can turn your Jolly Robin into a cushion, wall hanging, or simply frame it as the lovely piece of art it is. Instructions for all options included.
IN THIS KIT
Twelve different Liberty Tana Lawn® fabrics for the FPP.
Festive twine for the bauble string detail.
Pre-printed FPP patterns on the required 50gsm paper.
TO MAKE THE FPP FRONT (for all finishing options) YOU WILL NEED
Add-A-Quarter Ruler, rotary cutter & cutting mat, iron, sewing machine, thread in neutral colour, pins, hand sewing needle, tweezers, heat erasable pen (such as the Pilot Frixion Gel Pen) or pencil, coloured pencils (optional), frame (optional).
IF MAKING A CUSHION YOU WILL ALSO NEED
Grid ruler, 18” (45.7cm) cushion insert.
Cushion back fabric: two pieces 12¼” x 18½” (31.1cm x 47cm)
Protective FPP backing fabric: one piece 18½” x 18½” (47cm x 47cm), this will not be seen but a white fabric would be best so it doesn’t change the colours on the font of the cushion.
IF MAKING A WALL HANGING YOU WILL ALSO NEED
Grid ruler, sewing thread to quilt with (by hand or machine), basting spray (optional), walking foot (optional).
Backing fabric: one piece 20” x 20” (50.8cm x 50.8cm)
Binding fabric: four strips 20” x 1½” (50.8cm x 3.8cm) each
Hanging sleeve fabric: one piece 20” x 3.5” (50.8cm x 8.9cm), a stronger fabric such as a medium weight quilting cotton would be best for this.
Wadding: one piece 20” x 20” (50.8cm x 50.8cm)
