At the core base of Wallace Secret Garden furnishing fabric is an original Morris print named ‘Larkspur’ – a coveted design, first created in 1872, that reflects the wildness and freshness of the garden as Mary finds it, saying: ‘I think it has been left so long that it has grown into a lovely tangle’. The print was re-painted in a slightly different repeat to appear more entwined; flowers that would later grow in the garden were added, but in tonal shades rather than full colour, as though yet to fully emerge.
