Liberty Tana Lawn Fabric Oceanus A

Inspired by an archival Liberty paper impression from 1972, this design conjures up the image of stormy waves crashing against Aphrodite’s Rock – the legendary birthplace of the goddess of love. From the pattern’s undulating paint marks to its detailing of foam-crested waves (from which Aphrodite is said to have risen), this easy-to-wear design has a dynamic and textural character, with great movement and depth. Oceanus is part of the Oceans story of our Autumn/Winter 2023 collection – featuring designs that draw us deep down into a glittering underwater kingdom of wine-dark waters inhabited by powerful mythological beings.

For Autumn/Winter 2023, A Liberty Odyssey takes us on an adventure inspired by early storytelling – a dazzling contemporary voyage through the world of ancient myths. For this collection, the Liberty Fabrics designers drew upon the potent iconography and enduring cultural significance of millennia-old narratives of gods and goddesses, with four stories of ‘Classical’, ‘Universe’, ‘Earth’, and ‘Oceans’. A sweeping tour across sea, land, and heavens, shot through with captivating mythic imagery and symbolism to ignite the imagination.

Liberty’s Tana Lawn™ cotton is a fabric built by obsession, perfected into a modern masterpiece of production through a bespoke process that has evolved over a century. Printed in the Liberty Printing Mill, located between Milan and Lake Como in northern Italy, Tana realises unmatchable fluidity with a silk-like touch, unique print quality and striking colour vibrancy. Machine washable and durable enough for daily wear, it can be used to create everything from simple separates to spectacular statement pieces.
