When the editor of Popular Patchwork Emma Kennedy asked me to make a quilt to feature in the magazine, I couldn’t resist this new Sweet Liberty Quilt design. Emma gave me a lovely colour palette to work from and this bright and fun design is the finished quilt. I tried out lots of different thoughts and designs in the making of this quilt but love this contemporary look.
The design is based around making triangles of different sizes in bright and colourful Liberty fabrics combined with this fun newsprint fabric. I’ve had the newsprint fabric for a while now and have been waiting for just the right project. Ta da – here it is. I’m so pleased with the finished quilt. It’s a great example of how Liberty prints can be mixed with other fabrics for a more modern look. I’ve mixed some plain Tana Lawn fabrics into the design as well which give a bold dimension to the quilt.
I have made up a quilt kit for the top and binding of this Sweet Liberty Quilt. You can buy this here. The instructions are available from the March Issue of Popular Patchwork.
Thank you Emma for letting me design with freedom. As ever, it’s been a pleasure working with Popular Patchwork magazine. They have also published a really lovely feature on my Quilt SOS project which you can read here.
Happy sewing everyone.
Love Alice xx
