You want to learn to sew?

Making that first step into the sewing world is super exciting – saving lots of inspiring project ideas and of course fabric shopping! 😍

Step 1: Get to know your sewing machine

Before you sew a single stitch, spend some time getting comfortable with your machine.

Take the pressure off and just play! Thread it, wind the bobbin and practice some stitches on a scrap piece of fabric.

Step 2: Start with straight lines

The straight stitch is the foundation of almost everything and by mastering this you can make cushions, tote bags, quilts and so much more!

Step 3: Choose a simple first project

Please don’t decide to make your wedding dress your first ever sewing project 🙈

Start with something achievable that you’ll actually finish like a tote bag, cushion cover or a simple quilt block.

Step 4: Learn to press as you go

Your iron is your best friend in sewing. Press every seam as you sew and your finished project will look a lot more polished

Step 5: Don’t be afraid to ask for help

Find a sewing group (online or offline), watch tutorials and ask questions! Sewing is so much more enjoyable when you have someone to learn alongside with.

Our Alice Caroline Makers Facebook group is a perfect place!
