This Beautiful Blue Liberty Dress has been made for your summer sewing inspiration by Gill Nicholls. I asked the lovely Lewes Sewing Bees to use their vast sewing knowledge to come up with some summer sewing projects. I love the results.
This dress uses the Merchant and Mills ‘Ellis and Hattie’ pattern. This version is the Ellis dress but the pattern comes with the alternative Hattie style. It’s wonderfully loose fitting for the summer season and is super comfortable in Liberty Tana Lawn.
It’s been hard to send the dress back to Gill as I’m a little in love with it. I hope that you enjoy the dress Gill. Thank you so much for making it for my summer of sewing inspiration.
Gill talks about making this dress “I had to lower the neck and put a zip in the back. I also reduced the amount of gather on the skirt by 10cm as it is very full. It probably took me just under a couple of days with the adjustments and self fitting! I chose the Mitsi because I felt it would look good in a slightly stronger blue and it has a lovely summery freshness about it. I love the finished product.”
