Before we took the Quilt SOS quilts off to Lithuania, we took some photographs of these beautiful boy quilts. This animal quilt is so sweet. Made by Margaret Lupton, I love the design. Mr Hedgehog and Mr badger are my favourites. I absolutely love seeing the amazing quilts arrive at the studio. We all get very excited when the parcels arrive.
The patterns for the animals (except badger) are taken from an Elizabeth Hartman design called Fancy Forrest.
We put all of the boy quilts together as we had such a wonderful number of them this year. Many of these gorgeous quilts are suitable for both younger boys and teenagers. I will do a separate post on the teenage boy quilts to give some inspiration for the 2018 project. These beautiful boys quilts have come through in such a wide variety of wonderful patterns and designs. Each will be cherished by its new owner. The quilt in the backdrop below was made by Cynthia Cozens. The design is taken from the Magic Lantern Quilt by Lynne Edwards.
We loved stacking all of the quilts up into groups to see how many we had. This helped enormously with planning how we would distribute the quilts and was lots of fun to see them all together.
The beautiful boy quilts came in such a variety of patterns. Many of them were blue as you can see, but in each case, the quilt maker had put their own individual style into the finished quilt design.
I will be launching the new Quilt SOS project for 2018 in January. Find out more about the project here.
Have a lovely Christmas and a sewing filled New Year!
