Liberty Children’s Pyjamas

Kathy from the office has made these super sweet Liberty Children’s Pyjamas.  She has made them for Albert, her niece’s son using a Simplicity pattern (1574).  I’m completely smitten with these gorgeous PJ’s – in fact I quite fancy making a larger pair for myself!

I asked Kathy about making the pyjamas.   “I chose the fabric because its just perfect for jammies for a child. The vibrant red is such a great colour and I loved the animals too.  I chose the buttons to match the lion as they are a similar colour and wanted to bring out the detail.  This was the first time I had made any clothes from a pattern.  I found it quite easy although there were a few tricky bits due to my inexperience of dressmaking.  All of my sewing skills have come from soft furnishings so it was good to try something new.  I absolutely loved making these.  It was so satisfying to finish with something I can give as a gift.”

“I’m especially pleased with the pattern matching on the pocket.  I just had it in my mind that the pocket had to match to retain the detail of the cute animals.  The collar was fairly tricky for a first timer so I had to re-make it for second time to get it just so.  It worked really well in the end.  Albert loves the pyjamas and he put them on straight away.  He looks completely adorable in them.”

I finished the jammies off with a sweet name label which looks lovely for a gift.
