Liberty Dress in Mitsi Mustard

It’s time for the second of the ‘Lewes Sewing Bee’ projects. ย Sue Shoesmith has made this beautiful Liberty Dress in my exclusive Mitsi Mustard. ย  It’s got such a lovely vintage feel from the combination of the fabric and pattern. ย I love this dress so much. ย The neck line is lovely and has a vintage vibe.

The Fabric:
Exclusive Mustard and Grey Mitsi. ย I absolutely love Mitsi as it reminds me of Sakura cherry blossoms in Japan. I really love travelling and Japan holds a special place in my heart. ย Also, at the same time as I was designing the new exclusive collection, I noticed the April blackthorn and hawthorn blossom here in England. ย It looks so beautiful in the hedgerows and so, I knew I wanted to include beautiful blossom within the collection.
ย
I asked Sue about the sewing project and why she chose the pattern and fabric.
โ€œ I wear a lot of mustard yellow so as soon as I saw this new range of Alice Caroline Exclusives I knew I wanted to make a summer dress using the Mustard Mitsi. ย I think the fabric in this colour way has quite a vintage feel so I looked for a pattern that gave me that impression whilst also suited my body shape. ย I chose a pattern that Iโ€™d saved from a sewing magazine and as I wanted a cool dress I decided not to line it. ย

Iโ€™m very happy with dress. ย I particularly like the mixture of a fitted bodice and fuller skirt but on reflection I would line the bodice if I made this pattern again. ย Iโ€™m looking forward to wearing it when Iโ€™m on holiday in Crete in October.โ€

Thank you so much Sue for making this dress for some sewing inspiration using the Alice Caroline Exclusives. ย Have a wonderful time on your holiday!
