Dawn from the studio has made this beautiful Liberty Summer Dress using one of the fabrics from the SS22 Liberty ‘The Wonderful Fantastical’ collection.
Dawn tells us about her beautiful Liberty dress. “I know I say this about most Liberty fabrics – but Katie & Millie really IS my favourite, so when I saw Bella’s Silhouette in the new Spring/Summer collection I really did have to attempt to make something!”
“The background is Katie & Millie in a lovely crisp summer palette (blue, yellow, green, orange and pink!) with the silhouette of white flowers – just perfect for a summer dress. I bought the McCall’s pattern M7948 a few months ago and thought I’d have a go as it was billed as ‘Easy’ and there are a choice of sleeves and skirts. I wanted as much coverage as possible so went for the longest sleeve and, being very, very, short I was able to make it a maxi dress without having to use more material than the pattern suggested!”
“The Tana Lawn® is very fine and lovely to wear – but for modesty’s sake I decided to line the dress – and in the spirit of recycling I used some Mitsi White on White that had a previous life as a nightdress I made a couple of years ago.”
“As I’m not a very experienced dressmaker the finished item was a bit voluminous so I made a fabric belt to cinch it in to give more shape, and even had a bit left over to go round my sun hat.”
“Now all I need is some warm, sunny weather – preferably on a foreign holiday……????”
