Anna has made these Liberty Wide Leg Trousers using the new fabric ‘Painted Journey‘. I absolutely love wide leg trousers and these ones certainly stand out. They are slightly crazy but we all love them in the studio. Everyone has had a go at trying them on.
Anna went away over the Christmas break with the fabric to make these. When it came to the final fitting of the trousers, Christmas eating meant that she couldn’t quite do the zip up when trying on. She’s been obsessively running ever since! On photography day, she just about managed to squeeze into them – phew!
The Liberty Wide Leg Trousers are made using the Simplicity pattern 1069. It’s a great pattern as it has a maxi skirt too.
Anna added in an interlining to give the trousers bulk and body. This makes them hang really nicely. The lining used is Tana Lawn Nude.
I asked Anna about the sewing project. “It was so lovely to take some fabric home over the Christmas period and to have time to make something for myself. I’m so busy sewing for the Sewing Quarter and Alice Caroline that it’s hard to find time to sew something just for me. It was a bit of a shock to find out they didn’t fit on my first fitting. I had to go on a radical running regime to get into them in time for the photoshoot. Christmas was a bit too enjoyable this year. The trousers have lovely pleats in the front and darts on the back and have a smart facing to neaten the waist band. The trousers sit 2 inches above the waist line. As the pattern is a very detailed and almost like a painting, I’ve teamed them up with a black top and shoes.”
Happy sewing!
