For Mother’s Day, Kathy made her mum this lovely Liberty roman blind – isn’t it beautiful?
“Mum was having a new cloakroom fitted and decorated in a botanical theme and asked if I would make her a roman blind. We had been looking for the right fabric for the blind for some time, and then when Darwin’s Journey came into the studio, it was just perfect – also great timing as a present for Mother’s Day!”
“I chose a plain navy to edge the blind as a contrast, I feel it really gives the blind a crisp finish and brings out the colour in the fabric.”
“Roman blinds can be lined or unlined, but I chose to line and interline mine. Interlining is a layer sandwiched between your main fabric and lining and this gives the blind a thicker, softer and more sumptuous look.”
“Making the blind was relatively easy and didn’t take long. It does require some accurate measuring and care to get everything straight and square. I purchased a roman blind kit which made assembling the blind easier and gave me everything needed to hang the blind.”
“I was really pleased with how the blind turned out and mum was super excited to receive it”
