This pretty Alameda quilt block will provide all the inspiration required to get crafting – there is a lot that could be made with single block! Feature it as part of a larger quilt, make it into a cushion, appliqué it onto clothing or even frame it as a piece of art. Re-create the block full 16½” (41.9cm) block following the instructions, or go your own way by dividing the block into sections for use on smaller projects.
The block is constructed using English Paper Piecing (EPP) which is a delightful method of hand sewing which traditionally made use of small scrap pieces of fabrics and paper. EPP has great appeal as it is easily mastered and may be completed without expensive tools or equipment. It is also a very mindful craft, encouraging us all to slow down, pull up a comfortable chair, pour a cup of tea and enjoy every stitch by hand.
This individual block was originally featured in our Jewel Palace monthly quilt block subscription which ran throughout 2019.

Hand sewing needle and thread, water-soluble fabric glue pen or pins, iron and ironing board, scissors or rotary cutter, ruler and cutting mat
