The Quilt SOS Final Destination. Over the last year we have collected over 30 quilts – made by our lovely, kind hearted customers. Each of these quilts has been lovingly made to gift to our charity this year – GARAS. On Thursday last week in the ice and snow, we delivered the quilts to GARAS in the city of Gloucester.
Before they headed off, we could resist a photoshoot with the beautiful quilts being paraded around the village in the Cotswolds where the Alice Caroline magic happens. We had lots of fun oooing and ahhing over the gorgeous detail in each of the quilts. We are so grateful to each of the quilters that gets involved in the project. We’ve had some lovely comments from them saying thanks so much for coordinating it all. One of the things that the quilters seems to like is that we personally hand deliver each of the quilts to the charity so that we know for SURE that they are getting to the right people.
We also couldn’t resist stopping off in some pretty locations to take some pictures of the quilts before we hand them over. Here’s the newly cleaned Gloucester Cathedral – magical at Christmastime in the snow!
Here we hand over the precious quilts to Adele Owen, Director of GARAS (Gloucestershire Association for Refugees and Asylum Seekers) and Linda Satchell, who is one of the Resettlement Team Leaders. Linda is one pf the people that sets up the homes for families that have been granted asylum here in the UK. As soon as we walked through the door, we were greeted with “Oh my – it’s the ladies with the amazing quilts”. They launched straight away into telling us that the quilts from last year had been so gratefully received and made such a difference to the bedrooms and general cheeriness of the welcome here. This was wonderful to hear!
Adele Owen from GARAS says: ” We were again delighted to receive these stunningly, beautiful quilts. When we prepare homes for newly arriving refugee families we see their faces light up when they see their beds adorned with the quilts, an individual touch that helps them to feel at home and properly welcome as they rebuild their lives here. What a special gift”.
We hope that you’ve enjoyed hearing about our travels – until next year! Wishing you all a really lovely Christmastime. Love Alice, Anna & Ellie xoxo
