I love this super stylish vintage tea dress which takes me back to the throws of the 1940’s – a time when making your own clothes was just what everyone did.
It’s made from Florence A Liberty fabric from the current autumn winter collection. Florence represents a time when hand painting of colourways was still the norm in the Liberty design studio. It is a 1990’s design but it’s blooming flowers are evocative of 1940’s tea dresses.
You can make the dress with short or 1/4 length sleeves and gathered V neck with a bow or button detailing. It also features a yoke at the waist that flares at the hip. It’s a Simplicity pattern number 1587. The finished dress looks so lovely – it would look great for a day or evening out don’t you think?

Thanks so much to Louise from BeTweedy for making it for Alice Caroline – I love it!
