Lovely Liberty Patchwork Quilt for Quilt SOS

This amazing patchwork Liberty quilt was made by Tracy for our Quilt SOS project this year. We asked Tracy all about her quilt and how she chooses fabrics – Tracy’s quilts are always so bright and cheery!

“Oh, I just love a scrap quilt that’s made using what you have. For this quilt, I went through my Liberty stash and cut out loads of 3″ squares. I also had some blocks and fabrics leftover from a previous quilt too. When choosing fabrics, I buy what I like, so therefore it should all go together!”

“I find that adding plains to the busy Liberty prints brings out the colours and designs and gives your eyes somewhere to rest in all the beautiful busyness.”

“This is the second or third quilt I’ve made for Alice and I’ve also made blocks before for group quilts for the Quilt SOS project. It’s nice to be able to do something we love and pass on the love of a quilt to someone in need. A hug in a quilt.”

“Meanwhile, I have a few sewing projects on the go including a new quilt top, using an assortment of scrap fabrics, that’s nearly ready to quilt for next years Festival of Quilts. For the chilly evenings, I have some hand quilting and I’ve also cut out a new dress in Ciara to make next week so I must get on with that too.”

Thank you so much to Tracy and to everyone else who has taken part for your gorgeous quilt donations to this year’s Quilt SOS project. We will be personally delivering your quilts to GARAS in early December.
