I am dreaming of A Palace Garden with this New Fabric Collection by Liberty for the autumn / winter 2018. The collection is now available.
This collection has been inspired by Eltham Palace in London. The mix of Art Deco glamour and traditional English style creates a collection filled with rhythm, colour and surprise. We have been playing around with inspiring fat quarter bundles in the Alice Caroline studio.
Eltham Palace is a former royal residence in South East London used by Tudor kings and queens dating back to the 14th century. In 1933 the palace was revived by new owners, Stephen and Virginia Courtauld. They transformed the interiors into a masterpiece of the fashionable Art Deco style that was sweeping Europe. The Palace was now reborn in a mix of bold geometric motifs and hand painted floral walls.
You can see the influences of both the Art Deco style and pretty florals in this collection.
A pretty selection of cool blues.
I always find new Liberty collections inspiring. I am constantly dreaming of what I can make from the beautiful new fabrics. I can’t wait to make a dress in ‘Decadent Blooms’ which is one of my favourite prints in the collection. There are stunning florals and Art Deco influences tied in with the odd surprise. There are darker hues as is traditional with a collection for autumn / winter but equally there are some fabulous colours and patterns which Liberty are well-known for. I’m also really excited to see some of the upholstery fabrics revitalised as Tana Lawn.
I hope this New Fabric Collection inspires your next sewing project.
