Sewing with our Mint Meadow Exclusive Collection

Veronica from the Lewes Sewing Bees has made this beautiful collection of projects using our latest exclusive Liberty collection, Mint Meadow. Veronica tells us about her lovely makes!

“Wow! Another beautiful Exclusives range designed by Alice Caroline with the Liberty design team. Mint Meadow is fresh, delicate and sings with prettiness. The minty vibes with the teal and pinks are delightful and I really enjoyed mixing the tones and prints in the little projects I made.”

“I decided to make a couple of covered books. I’ve made several over the years. When I was a student I remember covering notebooks with scraps of Laura Ashley cottons. I decided to make a new Liberty reference book for Liberty swatches. I made a section of English paper piecing diamonds from all of the designs, Apple Mint, Betsy Mint, Wiltshire Peppermint, Betsy Rose Mint and Strawberry Thief Wild Mint. I added sections and strips of fabric to cover the entire book, including extra sections on each end to fold over and secure. Added a pretty Liberty button from my button stash and a little strip of elastic to fasten the book. I love how it feels to hold as I added wadding between the main cover and the lining.”

“I made the smaller book with the same process but wanted a simpler cover so used Betsy Rose Mint on the front, detailed with a pretty ribbon and Betsy Mint on the back. I used a little written piece from a selvedge edge saying Garden Notes resulting in a perfect little notebook for all those gardening projects.”

“My two drawstring bags are made from a Carolyn Forster bag. I picked up the pattern as a kit from Pincushion, my local patchwork shop, but the pattern is also in Carolyn’s book Sew Layer Cake Quilts & Gifts. It’s a lovely little lined bag to make and once again I used a selection of the fabrics to highlight the prints and colours. One I made with hexagons, which I really love and the other I used two different prints, The Strawberry Thief Wild Mint and Wiltshire Peppermint but added a fun little pompom trim in pink which matched perfectly. I lined with contrasting prints, and I used ribbons in the drawstring section, finishing the ends with shapes covered in the fabrics to add detail.”

“The lavender bags are simple little makes of two rectangles of fabrics with added ribbons and buttons. Who doesn’t love a lavender bag to tuck somewhere, and these fabrics were perfect for such an item.”

“This Exclusive range is beautiful and I can’t thank the Alice Caroline team enough for asking me to make something with them. Just imagine what a quilt would look like!”
