Sue’s Patina Blouse in Strawberry Thief Wild Mint

Sue from the Lewes Sewing Bees has been sewing up this lovely Patina Blouse using Strawberry Thief Wild Mint from our latest exclusive Liberty collection, Mint Meadow.

“I chose the Strawberry Thief Wild Mint to make this blouse as it was one of my favourite colours, teal – off set with the pale pink. It is a very similar colour combination to Alice’s previous exclusive, Felicite Teal (sadly no longer in stock), that I used to make to a pair of pyjamas – click here to see those. I usually wear strong colours.”

“The pattern I used was the Patina Blouse by The Friday Pattern Co. I was planning to make the long-sleeved version with the higher neck, more of a winter blouse. I bought the PDF version of the pattern and printed it out myself and did not realise until I was cutting out the fabric that I was using the lower neckline version with the longer collar. But, when I started putting it together I was really pleased I had. Tana Lawn is perfect for this pattern, because of it’s fine weave it is stable and gives crisp outline but soft enough to gather well. I originally made the long sleeve version but when I tried it on, I thought with the lower neckline it was more of a summer blouse when I would prefer short sleeves, so I altered the sleeves which I think gives the effect of show casing the pattern of the fabric more.”

“I’m very pleased with the result, sewing with Tana Lawn is a pleasure and making it on dark winter days the colours of this fabric make me think of summer.”
