Ruth from the studio has made these Super Sweet Liberty Bear Collars for her daughters teddies. Using a really small piece of Liberty fabric, these collars and ties add a beautiful touch to a loved toy. Ruth tells us about her project below.
“I was at my niece’s house one day when I noticed a very smart looking bear with a shirt collar and tie on and it gave me an idea… my eldest daughter has four Jellycat mice that are her most precious soft toys so I though I’d make them each a collar and tie for Christmas! I had a sneaky look and took a few photos of my niece’s bear and sketched out a design on a scrap of paper then I raided my fabric stash for something suitable. As they used such tiny pieces of fabric I had lots to choose from.”
“I decided on a smart Oakshott for the collar and some printed Liberty Tana Lawn for the ties. It was then just a case of experimenting with the dimensions for a good fit and some secret sewing! I secured the collars at the back with a small hand sewn piece of Velcro. I think the mice look lovely in their collars and ties and these were certainly easier to fit than the jackets I plan to make at some point in the future! I hope the mice like their Christmas presents when they find them under the Christmas tree!”
