Wiltshire Blouse

โ€œSue Shoesmith from The Lewes Sewing Bees has made this gorgeous Liberty blouse using one of our new exclusive fabrics – Wiltshire Funshine. Sue tells us about her beautiful make below.

“I decided this year that I needed to make a loose, longer sleeved top to keep me from burning in the summer, I considered linen but felt it would be too heavy, so Tana Lawnยฎ was the obvious choice.ย ย Light and airy but with its weave having a very high thread count it doesnโ€™t crumple and has clarity in itโ€™s designs. I chose the Wiltshire Funshine fabric from Alice Carolineโ€™s Halcyon Daze Exclusive Collection, although itโ€™s a paler fabric than I would normally wear I really liked the combination of blues and yellow, giving it a light but not too fussy feel.”

:I made the fabric up in the Imogen top pattern by Sewmesomething patterns, a British independent company that also has one line tips and tutorials in case you get stuck on tricky techniques like the placket.ย ย As tana lawn is so fine I used French seams throughout but have just discovered a pinking blade for my rotary cutter which Iโ€™m going to try for my next Tana Lawnยฎ project.โ€

I love this blouse. Just perfect for this weather. Tana Lawnยฎ has such a cool and lightweight feel – it’s great for summer clothes. Thanks so much Sue for sharing your gorgeous project with us.
