The very talented Veronica from the Lewes Sewing Bees has made this super cute snuggle quilt using all three fabrics from our new exclusive Liberty fabric collection, The Blossom Collection.
“My Blossom Exclusive Lap Quilt is made of alternating 3” squares using equal amounts of Wiltshire Plum Blossom, Felicite Cherry Blossom and Betsy Apricot Blossom. I wanted to keep the design simple to best showcase these pretty, delicate prints. Each print is a delight to use, the colours and tones are wonderful and they sit together so happily.”
“Once the squares were joined I backed the lap quilt with a soft cream fleece which makes a perfect ‘snuggle quilt’. It feels light because of the exquisite Liberty Tana Lawn material, yet soft and slightly weighted because of the fleece.”
“I machine quilted in the ditch with a 28wt Aurifil thread, pale pink 2410 and finished the quilt with hand-tied knots. For this, I always use Aurifil 12 and I used four pale colours to compliment the colours in this exclusive range: pale yellow 2110, pale green 2840, pale pink 2423 and cream 2311. I love a hand-tied quilt and this adds a perfect handmade touch to an already very homely quilt.”
“I chose to bind the quilt in the Wiltshire Plum Blossom as it is the strongest colourway of all three prints and frames the quilt nicely.”
“I love a lap quilt and when backed with a snuggly fleece it makes the perfect companion to cuddle up with, especially with the change of seasons.”
